234 FitD

FitD is a toxin naturally produced by Pseudomonas protegens. The fitD gene is part of a virulence operon which is regulated by three regulatory proteins, including an activator encoded by the fitG gene and a type I secretion system. The FitD toxin has been shown to have insecticidal activity, by inducing the apoptosis of the midgut epithelium as well as paralyzing and destroying insect phagocytes (M et al., 2013). Furthermore FitD is also known for its potential as a molluscicidal agent. This composite part has a Trc promoter which is inducible with IPTG.
